Our Families

We are both incredibly close with our families, and we can’t wait to bring a new member into the fold.

C.C.’s family

  • C.C.’s family is a blended family of the heart.
  • Her mother, Annika, is a fun-loving, witty retiree who was originally born in Sweden and moved to the states as a young girl. She and C.C. are very close, and they love going to antique stores, watching movies and TV, and going to museums. They are quick to laugh together.
  • C.C.’s Swedish grandmother, Mormor, was a major influence in her life. She was a voracious reader and instilled in C.C. a love of literature, art, and music. C.C. tries to live up to Mormor’s example by reading a book a week, but she’s not quite there yet.
  • Although she lost her Dad when she was young, C.C. is so grateful for the love of her aunts, uncles and cousins from his side of the family. Boisterous, full of laughs, and hugs–when they get together it’s like no time has passed. They live in various places all over the country, and when they are lucky to be in the same place, it’s a blast.
  • C.C. has also been lucky to find her chosen family through friends and family friends. She was a nanny for many years and is still very close to the kiddos she worked with, especially Siena, who just graduated from Emory College. They love to go on food excursions and hang out with her dog and doggie friends at the dog park.
  • C.C. has known her best friend, Jenn, since she was 4 years old, and is an auntie to her kids, Jake and Maren. She has enjoyed being part of their family through the years on vacations and Christmas.
  • C.C. is also very close to her family in Sweden. Her mother has two younger brothers, Hampus and Justus, who are like C.C.’s own brothers. They both live in Stockholm and work in the art, theater, and culinary world. C.C. loves visiting them and spending time with them and their families. She also enjoys reunions with her mother’s cousins in Sweden, and they have had some great summer fun together.
  • C.C.’s family is a diverse and loving group of people who are always there for each other. They are excited to welcome a new member to their family.

Mark’s Family

  • Mark’s family is a close-knit bunch with a rich history of adoption and fostering. His parents decided to adopt Mark and his brother Terry after they had two girls, Kristy and Kim.
  • His adoptive parents, William and Karen, are still going strong after over 50 years of marriage. (His mother just turned 80 years old this summer!) William is a retired corporate banker who is known for his kindness and generosity, while Karen is a scholar and former ballerina who loves to read and is a talented cook, also full of love and thoughtfulness.
  • Mark’s siblings are all successful in their own right.
    • Kim is a dedicated volunteer (and avid cyclist)
    • Kristy is a successful businesswoman (and former competitive gymnast)
    • Terry is a financial advisor (and former college soccer champion), with a wonderful son, Charlie, and wife Anne.
  • Mark has a close relationship with all of his siblings, and they get together as often as they can. Mark & C.C. love to check out nephew Charlie’s baseball/soccer/hockey games, grab a meal, or go trick-or-treating with him.
  • Mark’s cousins are also a big part of his life.
    • Jeff is a financial advisor who lives in Florida with his wife and three kids
    • Andrea is a Vice President at an Advertising firm and lives near Boston, MA
    • Kate is a florist who lives near Portland, Oregon with her husband and son, Sevrin. Sevrin just turned 4 years old and is a fun-loving and energetic boy who loves nature, games, and going on adventures.
  • Mark is lucky to have such a big and loving family. They are all amazing people who he loves spending time with. He’s excited to welcome a new child into his family, and he knows that they’ll be surrounded by love and support.
